My First Year At Hogwarts is a Mary-Sue story written by BiteMeTechie. Despite the fact that the author has been recognized in fandom circles as an excellent writer with a good handle on Original character characterization, the story has been left up online purposely by said author as a cautionary 'how not to write' for those just getting into fandom. In the author's notes for First Year, BiteMeTechie makes comment on what went wrong where and points out the larger turning points she took during writing any given chapter which made the story go from 'absolutely horrible' to 'not so bad'. According to official sources, the lessons gleaned from writing First Year will be published in a beginner's writing guide, called The Mary Sue Trap in 2008.
