NOADS stands for "Neglected Outsiders Anti-Defamation Society." NOADS critiques bad fan fiction in an aim to drive it away from the fandom.
They often give harsh critique, mostly to bad fan fiction in the Outsiders fandom, but occasionally they will praise a good fic. Their reviews also give advice to writers about what and how to improve their stories.
NOADS runs a Livejournal at http://noad-society.livejournal.com/ and also holds the position of "Sporkers-in-Residence" at 731 North St. Louis - The Outsiders Fan Fiction Board. They often spork bad fan fiction, replies sent to them regarding their reviews and anything that catches their eye. They have also written many essays on the state of fan fiction with tips for aspiring fan fiction writers.

NOADS claims to be a group made up of several different active writers and reviewers in the fandom, but refuses to state who, exactly, are among its members.
NOADS also has described themselves as a faceless, genderless entity. The group often claims to be heartless, soulless or joyless, complaining those attributes were "stolen by badfic."
It is speculated NOADS may be a group of fanfic readers who snapped after reading too many badfics.

Asshurt: A bad reaction to criticism.
Badfic: A bad fanfiction, complete with poor grammar and spelling and plotting and characterization issues.
Badfic eyeburn: The results of reading too much badfic, causing temporary damage to one's vision.
Badfic warrior: A reader/reviewer dedicated to giving harsh criticism in the hopes authors will either start writing well or quit writing all together.
Bah-leeted: A story has been deleted because of a bad review.
Block Paragraph of Doom: A message or story which has no hard returns, making it difficult to read.
Case File: Ongoing updates on various kerfuffles with different fanbrats.
Curtiscest: A depiction of slash between two or more of the Curtis brothers.
Curtises' Magic Couch: Where Mary Sue is taken to heal after being jumped or raped by either Socs or a male family member. Also used by various original characters who take up residence there. It heals all.
Dallymance: A romance featuring Dallas Winston, who is usually out of character. Coined by Artemis Rex.
Fanbrat: An author who insists on writing badfic and Mary Sues.
Fanbitches: Especially rabid versions of fanbrats.
LULZ: The amusement generated by fanbrat tantrums.
Mary Sue: A badly realized author insert.
Pit of Voles: Another name for fanfiction.net
Sheol: A Biblical term referencing the place where the dead wait for judgment. This is where NOADS claims to reside.
Spork: Making fun of badly written stories or messages, often "accompanied" by canon characters who appear as "guest sporkers." Dallas Winston is a favorite guest sporker.
Snerk: A half-giggle, half-snort. A sound often made when reading fanbrat messages.
Wangst: Heavy-handed use of angst, usually ineffectually and in an effort to garner undeserved sympathy.
Waambulance: A conveyance especially for those who whine constantly.
Woe Cake: A mythical baked good one eats when one is depressed. Sometimes topped with an angst cherry. Often used sarcastically to indicate a lack of woe.

NOADS gets into many confrontations with badfic authors, usually through review replies, which NOADS has no qualms about posting on their Livejournal and ridiculing. Some of the targets of NOADS wrath in the past that have tried to (unsuccessfully) defend themselves include:
- AllzStar - This writer railed against NOADS harsh criticism, instructing them how to give critique until it was discovered she had flamed other users herself. In addition to claims of having sold over 200 books a day (books she doesn't even have published), insulting other posters (whom later compared notes and discovered the insults), AllzStar refused to acknowledge any of the weaknesses in her writing, despite claiming to want critique. - Two-Bitty aka T.J. Grei - A writer claiming to be a Norwegian orphan who was adopted when his parents were killed, he also claimed to have killed a person by pushing them out a window, continuing to attend high school while in juvenile detention, then later becoming an English teacher. The various spelling and grammar mistakes tipped NOADS off to the likely falsehoods of this writer's life. T.J. Grei eventually disappeared from the fandom when his sister claimed he died, yet had no funeral or obituary, conveniently making it difficult to verify. Various holes in Two-Bitty/T.J. Grei's stories made it likely they were a sockpuppet account. [4] and [5]
