YouTube

According to From Broadcast Scarcity to Digital Plenitude: The Changing Dynamics of the Media Sport Content Economy, Brett Hutchins and David Rowe, Television New Media 2009; 10; 354 originally published online Apr 14, 2009; DOI: 10.1177/1527476409334016:

In January 2007, the NRL demanded that the video-hosting site YouTube remove all NRL-related clips posted without its express permission. These clips were seen to breach the rights of the free-to-air and pay television broadcasters, Channel Nine and Fox Sports, respectively. The reaction in online forums was one of outrage, with many fans complaining that their carefully compiled tributes to particular players and clubs were no longer available. Fans argued that YouTube was actually a free marketing and promotion tool for the NRL and that if the NRL had more footage available on its official web site (http://www.nrl.com) the desire of fans to use YouTube would not be as great.
