New Kids on the Block was a boy band, and enjoyed enormous success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Assembled in Boston in 1984 by producer Maurice Starr, the members consisted of brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood. The group went on to sell over 70 million albums worldwide[1], generated hundreds of millions of dollars in concert revenues, and paved the way for acts like Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC.

Below is a list of terms and their definitions that are used in this fan community.
- Blockheads - Term used to describe New Kids on the Block fans. Originated during the group's original success in the late 80's and early 90's.
- Bravehearts - Term used to describe group member Joey McIntyre fans. Originated when he started his solo career. He can be heard referencing it on his album, One Too Many, Live From New York.

Below is a partial timeline of events that took place in this fan community.
- In 1994, Never Let ’Em Go was founded this year. This fanzine, focused on New_Kids_on_the_Block, was originally written in Danish but the editors changed it to English after they realized there was an interest in the topic. It contained a number of pieces of New_Kids_on_the_Block fan fiction.
- In 1994, the band called it quits. [2]
- In 1995, nkotb.com was launched as a fansite dedicated to reporting the latest news as the group launched solo efforts. Keep Keepin' On, a lyric from Face the Music, was the fan club's name.
- In [[2000], the virtual shrine at nkotb.com disappeared.
- On March 21, 2004, the Jordan Knight LiveJournal community Jk fans was created. [3]
- On April 12, 2004, the Jonathan Knight LiveJournal community Jonathanrknight was created. [4]
- On January 17, 2005, the LiveJournal community Nkotb lovers was created. [5]
- On July 3, 2006, the Jordan Knight icon LiveJournal community Jk icontest was created. [6]
- On August 9, 2006, the fan fiction LiveJournal community Nkotb fics was created. [7]
- In 2007, a group of fans contacted the owner of the nkotb.com account and brought the site back, uniting fans once again.
- In 2007, The New Kids Forever[8] launched giving fans rare pictures, album liner notes and more.
- In February 2007, NKOTB Are Still Kicking Ass[9] was launched, giving the latest New Kids on the Block news and the craziest NKOTB stories from the 80s to 07.
- In December 2007, the fansite nkotb.com was contacted by nkotb, inc. to acquire the site for future nkotb projects. The former nkotb.com was changed to nkotbfans.com, where it remains active today.
- In January 2008, "The band's Web site, www.nkotb.com, which had been dormant, is now back up and running in anticipation of the official announcement, which the source says will be made in the next few weeks."[10]
- On January 29, 2008 a new teaser video appeared on the new nkotb.com, complete with a never released ballad by New Kids On the Block.
- In 2008, the internet was hit with a plethora of New Kids on the Block related websites and blogs dedicated to the anticipation of the rumored New Kids on the Block reuion.
