- On August 11, 1998, the mailing list nsync_love was created. [1]
- Creating NSync fansites on domains hosted on Envy.Nu and other sites with a .nu extension was all the rage. [2]

- On April 16, 1999, the mailing list Nsync_FanFics was created. [3]
- In 1999, FictionLyn wrote Because of You and If She Only Knew.

- Sometime around June of 2000, the site Bad Fanfic! No Biscuit! was created by Siubhan and Joan the English Chick. The site, last updated in January of 2001, introduced or helped further the concept of badfic into a number of additional fan fiction communities, including this one. Unlike some badfic websites or sites which just pointed out badfic, as in of accidental inferior quality, the site had deliberate badfic and explanations as to what was not right with the story, what made the story bad.
- In 2000, FictionLyn wrote Sometimes I Wish and Its Only Me.
- In December of 2000, Puppies in a Box, an NSync fan fiction site, went live. This site was very important in the history of the NSync fan fiction community. The site is now defunct. [4]
- On December 5, 2000, the mailing list PopStarFanFics was founded. [5] This list hosted Backstreet Boys, NSync, Take5, No Authority, Natural, Christian Davis, Moffatts, Hanson, Skandal, Westlife, A1, MyTown, 5ive, O-town, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson fan fiction.

- In 2001, FictionLyn won 2001 That’s Amore! *NSYNC Fan Fiction Awards in the following categories: Best Story for Its Only Me, Best Justin story for Its Only Me, and Best novel-length story for Its Only Me.
- On June 11, 2001, the LiveJournal community jc_fans was created. [8]

- By 2002, the NSync fan fiction community had moved almost entirely to LiveJournal.
- On July 23, 2002, the LiveJournal community jc_lanceslash was created. [9]

- In 2004, adultfanfiction.net received a request to remove certain fanfiction for a member of N'Sync. The stories contained the member having underaged relations, thus resulting in the new TOS rule to ban all stories with real person underage relations on that site.
- On March 8, 2004, the GreatestJournal community chasez_fans was created. [15]
