- Between August and October 1994, Cort Dougan took over John Ruchak's X-Files fan fiction ftp archive.
- By September or October of 1995, the term betareader was being used in the Sliders fan fiction community on their big mailing list and on Usenet. (Wendy Perkins)

- Between October and December 1996, the Mulder/Skinner Slash Society was created.
- Between August and October 1996, Alternative (alt) fan fiction became a standard in the Xena fandom.
