- By October 1996, the term betareading was being used in this fan fiction community on the Usenet group alt.tv.highlander.
- On October 8, 2002, the Andromeda LiveJournal community sea_biscuit was created. [1]
- The Lost Fan Fiction Archive was founded on October 8, 2004. [2]
- October 2005: Threat of legal action from CTV/19 Entertainment resulted in suspension of several Canadian Idol character LiveJournals from the LiveJournal communi must_be_pop RPG. Many stories on ci_slash were locked by as a result.
