[edit] Introduction
''Percy Jackson and the Olympians" is a series about the concept: What if Greek Mythology were real? The stories are about demigods, half-gods, half-mortals, and their adventures.
[edit] The Author
Rick Riordan lives in Texas with his family. He was a teacher and wrote adult mystery novels. His son Haley suffers from dyslexia and ADHD, but in spite of his difficulty with reading he loved Greek Mythology. Every night Riordan would tell his son a story from Greek myth until one night he realized he no longer had any stories left to tell. His son begged and asked him to make up a story if he must, so The Lightening Thief was born as an oral story Riordan told to his son. Haley enjoyed it so much that he told his father that he should write it down. It was published, and the remainder of the series followed.
