Perfect Imagination
From Fan History Wiki
Perfect Imagination is a Harry Potter fan site with accredited beta readers for the Harry Potter fandom which can be located here. This is where ficwriters go to help, and it's a very popular site where writers of all pairings and eras go in need for help.
The site is affiliated with the Unknowable Room.
[edit] History
Perfect Imagination was first created when Asli, the creator, got tired of rummaging around the Internet in search for good beta readers. How did she know if they were any good and were lying about their previous experiences?
At first beta readers were tested using fragments of unpublished Harry potter fanfiction. Over time the test process was polished and expanded. Eventually, the test was between one and two thousand words long, with forty deliberate errors for beta readers to find and correct. A passing mark of eighty percent was set, and no beta reader who scores lower than that was admitted within a three month period.
As the site began to expand into other fandoms in early 2008, the test changed from being fandom specific to an unpublished segment of original fiction. Mentors were added to help applicants who did not pass improve their expertise, and greater feedback was given on each application.
Rigorous programmes are in place on the site to detect and eliminate cheaters, and there is a zero tolerance policy towards those who try and beat the system.
Perfect Imagination continues to grow and is always striving to bring writers and beta readers together in a successful relationship.
