To pimp, or pimping, is used in fandom to describe the act of promoting a fandom (show, movie, pairing, etc) to others with the hopes of drawing new fans into the fandom. Pimping can take many forms, such as:

• Hosting a viewing party or "pimping panel" at a convention or fannish party
• Writing a "manifesto" about a show (or pairing) for a promotion community such as The Shipper's Manifesto
• Actively writing about a fandom in a livejournal or other blog in a way to try to draw in new fans
