- On July 17, 1996, Placebo released their self titled album. [3]

- On October 12, 1998, Placebo released their album Without You I'm Nothing. [4]
- On October 15, 1998, FanFiction.Net was founded. There would be a few Placebo stories posted to the site before all RPF was removed on September 12, 2002.

- On October 9, 2000, Placebo released their album, Black Market Music. [5]

- On April 29, 2001, the Placebo LiveJournal community placebolust was created. [6]

- In August 2003 * Placebo Fans Worldwide was born. Due to hectic lives and lack of time the website has yet to go live, however the creator's are working hard to create a website that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but contain interactive activities and information about one of Europe’s most inspiring and controversial alternative bands too.

- On October 17, 2004, the Placebo fansite, sucker-love.com, was created. It identifies as a slash (and news) website.
- On October 25, 2004, Placebo released their album, Once More with Feeling. [15]

- Around December 31, 2005, placebo freakshow added a forum which enabled people to post Placebo fan fiction. [16] People continue to post fan fiction to this board in 2007. [17]

- In 2006, FanDomination.Net continued to be an important fan fiction archive for the Placebo fandom.
- On March 13, 2006, Placebo released their album, Meds. [18]
- In May 2006 * Placebo Fans Worldwide added a Forum and Myspace pageto their growing community.
