• On June 8, 1998, the pretendfic mailing list was created. [1]
• On October 23, 1998, the Pretender mailing list prerelationship was created. [2] It was dedicated to the Jarod/Miss Parker relationship.
• On December 6, 1998, Quantum Pretender, a Quantum Leap/Pretender crossover, was posted to alt.ql.creative. It's still in the alt.ql.creative archive. [[3]]

• On May 3, 1999, the Pretender mailing list PretenderFic was created. [4]
• On September 19, 1999, the Pretender mailing list J-MP-FanFic was created. [5] It was dedicated to the Jarod/Miss Parker relationship.

• By 2000, Pretender fen were using the term beta reader on static web pages like author personal sites and non-automated fan fiction archives.
• The following are Pretender fan fiction archives which were around in August 2000: Slide Like A Pretender and The Slightly Warped Sliders Page. [6]

• On March 22, 2001, the mailing list milliways-L was created for the posting of science fiction related fan fiction and discussion. Fandoms represented included She Spies, Star Wars, Farscape, Star Trek, Andromeda, Star Trek: Deep Space 9, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Next Generation, Star Gate SG-1, Pitch Black,Dark Angel, Buffy, Sabrina, Angel, Level 9, VR.5, Sliders, Pretender, Babylon 5, Seven Days, Tracker, Highlander, The Immortal, Prey, Lost In Space, Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Wolf Lake, Witchblade, Special Unit 2, Freakylinks, Space, The Imagination Station, Star Trek: Enterprise, Black Scorpion, Alias, The Agency, Star Hunter, Xena, Hercules, Mutant X, Smallville, Outer Limits, Quantum Leap, The Time Tunnel, Birds of Prey, Astronauts, Veritas, Paranormal Girl, Ginger Snaps, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Starhunter, Firefly, Miracles, Lost. • On August 17-18, 2001, Living the Dream Pretender convention in Hollywood CA. Creators and many of the cast were there. The show creators were asked their opinion on fan fiction and mentioned they didn't have a problem with it.
• On December 18, 2001, the Pretender LiveJournal community the_pretender was created. [8]

• On March, 2002, the Pretender Story Auction was run following in the footsteps of the successful Sentinel story auction that helped Sentinel fans gain one more season of that show. Pretender fan fiction authors traded custom Pretender fan fiction stories for letters to the network to attempt to get Pretender back on the air. The auction generated 15 new fan fiction stories, 256 e-mails and 183 letters to the network from Pretender fan fiction fans.
• On July, 2002, the tP_Fanfic_Awards mailing list was started. Awards had been run the previous year and some of the fans decided to keep the idea going by starting a mailing list for nominating and voting on Pretender fan fiction awards. [9]

• On March 23, 2003, the Pretender LiveJournal community pretenderfic was created. [10]
• On December 17, 2003, the Pretender LiveJournal community pretender100 was created. [11]
