The Prince of Tennis(テニスの王子様 ) is a manga and anime series created by Takeshi Konomi. This series is categorized as shounen and "sports."
The story follows Echizen Ryoma, a twelve year old tennis prodigy. Flying in from America, Ryoma begins his school life in Japan in the tennis club Seigaku. Beating the second and third years at tennis, Ryoma is acknowledged and becomes one of the eight regulars of the tennis club. Earning his rightful spot as a regular, the Seigaku Tennis Club begin their objective to enter and win the national tournaments.

There are often debates upon the use of these names between fans, seeing as some of these are unofficial fan-created names. Many users prefer to use more standard and generic formats in pairing names, such as Character 1 x Character 2, Character 1/Character 2, or the truncation of part of one character's name added to the truncation of the second character's name.
