[edit] Introduction
Radiohead are a band with a vast, devoted fandom composed of many different subgroups. While the fandom as a whole is one of the largest on the internet[citation needed] (as of February 2008, the atease messageboard alone counts over 42,000 members) and has an almost equal ratio of female to male fans[citation needed], the slash-oriented section of the fandom is much smaller and almost exclusively female.[citation needed]
[edit] The Band
Radiohead formed in Oxfordshire in the mid 1980s. The band is composed of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, electronics), Jonathan Greenwood (lead guitar, keyboards), Ed O'Brien (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass guitar) and Phil Selway (drums).
[edit] Terminology
Below is a list of terms and their definitions that are used in this fan community.[citation needed]
Cheesecake: Radiohead fandom's primary term for slash.
Collab: Term that denotes fiction with more than one author, often written in a turn-based manner.
Cakelab: Term that denotes fiction with more than one author, often written in a turn-based manner, that involves sex swings, glittery dildoes, birthing chairs, and John Simm.
Thonny: Term that denotes the slash pairing of Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, by far the most popular pairing in Radiohead fiction.
Co-Ed: Term that denotes the slash pairing of Colin Greenwood and Ed O'Brien.
Thozzie: Term that denotes the slash pairing of Thom Yorke and Colin Greenwood.
Edny: Term that denotes the slash pairing of Ed O'Brien and Jonny Greenwood.
Thed: Term that denotes the slash pairing of Thom Yorke and Ed O'Brien. Controversial because (as one poster put it), this would be like "a Great Dane fucking a chihauhua".
Stanley: Nobody ever has sex with Stanley because he's just too fucking weird, and is usually off painting pictures of vaginas or scary bears. Stanley prefers it this way.
Contro: A subgenre of slash involving situations that may be deemed "controversial." (See Cake Canon #14.)

[edit] Influential fanworks
Thom Yorke and Cheesecake: This thread, and story of the same name which was its first post, was initiated by Sally in September, 2003, on the Atease message board. It featured Thom, Michael Stipe, and a large lemon tofu cheesecake (if memory serves). Subsequent stories were, naturally, referred to as "cheesecake stories", and after time, just "cake".[citation needed]
