Rescue Ranger fandom - LGBTI Issues

[edit] Introduction
The Acorn Café has had a number of issues with the topic of homosexuality, both in fanfiction and in the fandom in general.
[edit] Background
After the departure of original moderator Natasha Kashefipour and the relocation to the new board, there was a large argument about whether or not homosexuality as a topic should be tolerated at the forum. In the interest of keeping the forum a place that would be appropriate for children on a similar level with the nature of the cartoon, it was decided by the administrators of the time not to allow the topic of homosexuality on the forum. Some fandom members felt this restriction was unnecessary.
[edit] Enforcement
Rule #3 at the Acorn Cafe (available for public viewing on their rules page[1](wc) states the following:
- 3. No Sexually Related Discussion. You will not request, link to, or post information about or references to RR pornography or erotica. You will not post anything relating to homosexuality, homosexual relationships, trans-gender relationships, alternative sexual lifestyles, or any other topic deemed sexually inappropriate by the moderators.
[edit] Example
One user, Soda, has been banned twice for her zealous attempts to have this LGBTI ban lifted. She did so by making repeated contact with the moderators for clemency, and for attempting to raise public awareness in the matter.
[edit] Conclusion
It is worth noting that while the Acorn Cafe operates under a strict policy forbidding the discussion of LGBTI topics, alternative websites such as Chip 'n' Dale Online provide a forum free from such restrictions. Members of the Rescue Ranger fandom are encouraged to join and contribute.
