SWAT Kats was an animated series which was produced by Hanna-Barabara and Turner Broadcasting.
[edit] The cartoon and canon
The series was set in MegaKat City which was populated by anthropomorphic felines called "Kats". The SWAT Kats were Chance Furlong ("T-Bone") and Jake Clawson ("Razor"), two mechanics who using scrap parts found in junk yards to create an array of super vehicles and stop an array of supervillians in the city as the SWAT Kats. The pair find an allie in Callie Briggs, the city deputy mayor, who is the only person who knows their secret idenities. Other characters include Mayor Manx, who only cares about playing golf and Commander Feral, the head of his city's Enforcer (police) force, who hates the SWAT Kats, not unlike J. Jonah Jamison to Spiderman.
