During the 1970s, some fen who did not like the Sam/Frodo pairing were accused of homophobia. (shilohmm)

The Sam/Frodo community was early to LiveJournal. Their presence dates back to 2003 and earlier. [1]

Parts of the Sam/Frodo community migrated to InsaneJournal in response to a series of policy changes and actions taken by LiveJournal. This migration occurred in waves in June 2007, August 2007 and March 2008. [2]
