The tech industry in San Fransisco has done a lot of things for fandom, and that have effected fandom. The history of this industry in this city is thus intertwined with the history of greater fandom in the United States and beyond.

- "December 12, 2003 — LiveJournal begins airing commercials in movie theatres in San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, and Denver. [1]" [2]

- In January 2005, LiveJournal "and its parent company, Danga Interactive, to Six Apart of San Francisco and relocated to the Bay Area a month later." [3]

- On July 24, 2007, a power outage hit San Francisco. [4] Several sites went down as a result, including LiveJournal, NetFlix, ProBoards [5][6], Puzzle Pirates [7][8] and FanLib. [9] While the other sites were back up quickly, LiveJournal was down for more than six hours. [10]

- The first BASCon was held November 2-4, 2001 at the DoubleTree Hotel in South San Francisco, California. This was the weekend immediately following the first Constrict convention.
