- ELF is a SeaQuest DSV term. It stands for 'Evil Lucas Fanfiction' and used to refer to a fanfic that focuses on the character 'Lucas Wolenczak' and tends to involve angst of some sort.

- By 1994, fanzines were being produced in this community. One of the publishers of these fanzines during this era was Deb Walsh.

- In February 1998, Sci-Fi Entertainment ran an article on fan fiction. It referenced the SeaQuest DSV fan fiction community. An extract of a relevant section of the article says:
