Solacium

Solacium was a LiveJournal-based role-playing game, using characters from the anime Gundam Wing. The game lasted for almost two and a half years and had at its peak over 150 active readers. Fans of the game even formed a community of their own, the G-Boys Angels, for which several of them wrote tongue-in-cheek self-insertions of interaction with the players.

The overall story arc of the game involved the lives and relationships of the characters, set ten years after the events at the end of the series. It began rather spontaneously with two 1x2 fans starting journals to play Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell, under the usernames "duonekophile" and "duoneko". Soon another pair of fans picked up journals for Quatre Raberba Winner and Chang Wufei ("billion_dlr_boy" and "apt_indignation", respectively); and they in turn recruited another fan to play Trowa Barton ("silent_trtmnt03"). Soon they were joined by a Zechs Merquise ("backfromhell") and a Lucrezia Noin ("nineofswords").

After the first year, "duoneko" and "duonekophile" decided they wanted to go in a different storytelling direction, and they moved on to form another interactive role-play group. The vacant roles of Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell were filled by "nomorespandex" and "dmaxwell", and the story picked up with little disturbance. Soon the characters of Relena Darlian-Peacecraft ("peacecrafty"), Iria Winner ("iria_winner_md"), Hilde Schbeiker ("scrapper_grrl"), and Abdul Hamid ("one-in-forty") were added, rounding out the cast. Other characters, such as Dorothy Catalonia and Catherine Bloom, were occasionally played as NPC's by the existing players, when the situation required it.

Solacium came to an end in July of 2005. At that time, the current players broke anonymity and revealed their fandom identities.
