Orkut is a social networking site that has many users from Asia. There is a thriving Stargate community on the site, engaged mostly in discussing the science and technology in the show. There is almost no fan fiction community for the show on the site.

Below is a partial timeline of events that took place in the Stargate SG-1 community involving orkut.
- On October 1, 2004, the orkut community Stargate was created. [1]

- On September 9, 2005, the orkut community Stargate: SG-1 was created. [4]
