[edit] Terminology categorization

Just a question of sorts... At one point, probably a year ago, Jae and I were talking about how to categorize terms and the thought wasn't necessarily to put each term in its own category for every fandom it was used in. It looks like we're now headed in that directions. Is that something that contributors to these articles actively think should be done? I'm of the camp of don't put the term in a particular fandom category it is used in unless the fandom is mentioned in the article. That way, articles like say Saffic, slash, lemon aren't in 1,000 different categories. And if some one wants to create a situation where those articles should be in those categories, it should be easy enough to think of a way to get the fandom mentioned. --Laura 07:38, 28 June 2008 (CDT)

I think, you're probably right. Even as I was cleaning up the Xena category a bit this morning I was wondering, like in this instance, wow this term is used ALL OVER the place and the article should really be written up better to express this.
Maybe the terminology section needs a little guide on categorization to explain this, and to note to just put terms in the more broadly applicable main category or sub-categories, and only in fandom-specific ones if they are of particular importance to that fandom/noted of use in that fandom in the terminology article itself? --Sidewinder 07:50, 28 June 2008 (CDT)
Help:Terminology was created. It was also linked to the help page. The article should now reflect this change in position. Feel free to make any changes as the wording feels off. --Laura 08:37, 28 June 2008 (CDT)
