[edit] Ship names
Since there are approximately a gajillion ship names, I was thinking of chopping down the list on this page to the most popular couples (namely the ones with web sites), and then making a separate article to list all the others. Any thoughts? 12.0.45.2 09:54, 18 September 2007 (CDT)
- That was me, btw. Don't know how I got logged off. Jae 09:55, 18 September 2007 (CDT)
- I occassionally get logged off sometimes too. :/ It's happened a bit more after the upgrade to MediaWiki 1.10. That said, ship names could probably be chopped. Maybe move some of that down to see also? With the definitions on the pages? --Laura 11:34, 18 September 2007 (CDT)
[edit] Influential Fans
Can we discuss the influential fans section?
I don't see any references to Meimi's accomplishments (aside from being an FFNet admin), or Konami, aside from being an artist. I'm just kinda lost as to what influence these fans had?
I suggest we add Meg-chan's efforts to make the original episodes available more *visible* (is this sentence great, or what?) by adding a summary of her contribution next to her name. Any objections?
I'll totally agree with Splash's contributions to the Taito community, but I'd like to debate Higuchimon's influence on the Digimon fandom. While the fandom itself isn't as active as it was, say, five years ago, even her earlier work doesn't seem to have the popularity of others from earlier stories, such as nightdragon0 (User ID: 116042)'s Dragon Morphs (Story ID: 720075). If we are defining influential authors as the ones who are 'prolific', Pyjamas (User ID: 495382) has created substantially more Digimon-based stories (admittedly, mostly one-shots) than Higuchimon has.
I'd also like to suggest that Broken Angel01 (790525) be added to the list of influential fans. In the last two years, her "Following in the Footsteps of Destiny" (2381425) has gathered its own cult following, inspiring (dare I say, influencing?) her readers to write fan-fiction and create fan-art based on her original characters--something I think is especially impressive considering her story wasn't created when the fandom was more active. She's also updated her story, on average, nearly weekly since it was created on May 5th '05.
C.Queen (245085) is a name well-known in the Rika-Ryo community, mostly for her ongoing story, "There For You" (954036). Similarly, Crazyeight (1162566) is also well-known writer in the rival Rika-Takato community for various contributions.
Summary: I feel that C.Queen and Crazyeight would be worthwhile additions to the list from the lack of any Season Three authors, while Broken Angel01's following is the very definition of 'influence'. nightdragon0's story was hugely successful, especially when considering the lack of ties to the canon, and Pyjamas has created 89 digimon stories, considerably higher than Higuchimon's 47. - I know about Meimi's contributions. Her page really needs a total rewrite to be made better because I think it mostly hits on her FF.Net related admin stuff as it pertained to Cassandra Clare and she did a lot more, including creating some very influential fansites. As for the other people, I was never in the Digimon fandom enough to know. :/ Please feel free to edit your suggestions in. :) --Laura 11:42, 29 October 2007 (CDT)
- A bit late on the discussion but can we discuss the "Influential Fans" that some couple pages have? Though it is important to know some of the people who helped that fandom, what exactly sets these fans apart from others that write for it? Do we put some of the earlier ones, the ones with the most reviews, or what? If we go by reviews, then couples such as Takari will have plenty due to its popularity but others such as Jyoumi tend to have fewer fans so it would be hard to label them influential.
- Also, I would like to add Ultra Sonic 007 (74952) in the influential fan for the main digimon page whose Zero 2: A Revision (1584078) fic has gathered quite the following. His series is still going strong with the fifth story in the making. --User:GH215 2:45, 10 January 2008(PT)
- Yeah, Ultra Sonic 007 DEFINITELY should be on that list. As for what qualifies as 'influential' is obviously very vague, and even foggier when it comes to couple-writers, but I guess that's what the discussion board's for! I added C.Queen a while ago, since as far as Season 3 goes, Rika-Ryo are the most popular coupling (followed closely by Rika-Takato), and her story is the most successful (I hate to base it all on reviews, but 1000+ is, at the very least, an indication that people are definitely reading). I typically don't read Season 1/2, so I didn't add those authors myself, but if you've got someone in mind to add I'd love to hear who and why :)

- While the review system is a good way to determine which fan is influential, it does not work as best as it should for the more popular couples. Couples such as Taiora, Mimato, and Takari tend to get reviews just because they're there; it is not rare for these to get high amounts of reviews. However, if a story featuring a 'rare' couple such as Sorkeru and it gets high amounts of reviews, then it could more then likely be deemed influential.
- As for influential authors for couples, Daneel Rush -Koushi-(Id:66727) is well known in the Rukato community with his Tamers Forever and Gospel series from what I've heard. I also believe that as mentioned above, Crazyeight is another well known Rukato writer. For the adventure writers, Silver1 (id:20171) was one of the first major pro-Daisuke and pro-Daikari writers and is still well known amongst that community. Though his fic Endgame was deleted for lemony context, author Psycho G (id:129014) can by all means be considered REALLY influential. Though I was not to active in the fandom during its run, the story was well known for its length (I believe it was around 102 ch's passing the 560,000 word mark) and amount of reviews (over 1000 I believe). But like I said earlier, i never actually got a chance to read this story. For those who write the more popular couples, as stated earlier, there needs to be some sort of system that can deem them above the rest.--User:GH215 12:29, 18 January 2008(PT)
[edit] Statistics
Added some fic statistics to the Fandom Size section. Only English-written fics were factored in (mostly 'cause I couldn't figure out how to get the site to display more than one language). Interestingly enough, nearly 70% of posted stories are under 5000 words! Okay, I'm boring for finding that interesting.

- I'm a huge stats fans. :) I like the getting them with dates so people can measure growth, etc. over time to see how things change or use them for other sorts of comparisons. I tend to generally get limited types though as I'm tryingfandom representation overkill. --Laura 00:49, 30 October 2007 (CDT)
[edit] random bits
I'm not very knowledgeable about it, but the foundation/closure dates of the DHZ and DaD (The major NC-17 sites for the fandom) should be included. DaD just came down, I hope it'll get restored. 74.56.65.168 17:50, 30 December 2007 (CST)
