Tara O'Shea

Tara O'Shea is a fan fiction reader, writer, editor, fanzine publisher and archivist. She was a member of the Robin of Sherwood, Forever Knight, Due South, Gargoyles, Vr5, Smallville and Star Trek: Voyager fan fiction communities. In the mid-1990s, she ran several mailing lists, including LOISCLA (the Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) listserv which was read by cast and crew, DSOUTH-L, a Due South discussion list, and RANGERS-L, the Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers listserv which has been continually running since 1994. She created one of the first Due South fan websites, and served as one of the main liaisons between the production office and the fans during the production of the first and second seasons. Better known off-line as a fan artist than a writer for most of the 1990s, she became better known online for writing and her non-fiction writing about fandom in the later 1990s, primarily due to her column "Once Upon a Time" (which ran sporadically for several years at FanFiction.net). She is best known for creating fan sites for series such as La Femme Nikita, Angel, Star Trek: Voyager and Smallville. In 1994, she published Forever, a Forever Knight fanzine. In 1995, she published an anthology of her Earth 2 fan fiction called Tales from the Grinning Grendler, and in 1996 published two chapbooks, a Due South story, and a VR5 story called "Damage Control". In 1997, she created the P/T Collective Archive, a Paris/Torres fan fiction archive which archived the writings of the P/T Collective, a group of round-robin authors from America Online's Star Trek: Voyager message boards. In 1999, she created Lower Decks, a fan fiction archive dedicated to crew members outside of the senior staff on Voyager. Since the mid 1990s, she has created over 40 fan websites and fan fiction archives for over a dozen fandoms. She is currently active in Doctor Who and Jem fandoms.
