harrypotterforteenagewitches was a Harry Potter mailing list for teenagers.

- On April 7, 2000, the harrypotterforteenagewitches mailing list was founded. This list was for teen fans of Harry Potter. [1] That such a list would be created was not unusual. Teenagers had created a number of teen-specific lists. Teens have different fannish needs than adult fans in fandom, and they are occasionally locked out of fandom. To give a perspective on this, some of the lists that had been created earlier in other fandoms included the DDTeens, JetC Junior groups, P/T Teens, and the b5teens. This group would spawn the popular story, Draco Dexter. Members included several people who would be peripheral members of the Inner Circle including Mon Starling and Flourish. Cassandra Claire's work would be plugged on the list by August 12, 2000 [2] and list members would vaguely be involved in the events surrounding Sinead, a former list member who was 19 when she joined. [3]
- By September 7, 2000, Cassandra Claire had joined harrypotterforteenagewitches in order to discuss her work, Draco Dormiens. [4] Cassandra Claire's membership stands out a bit as this list was a list for teenage Harry Potter fans. Cassandra Claire did not fall into this group as she was in her 20s. She actively engaged this group for some time, asking questions about what they wanted to see in her story and their views on characters. [5]
- December 2000 ended with Cassandra Claire implying on HP_FanFiction that her story might become a slash story. [6] The following extract gives that clue:
- * Cassie ponders about where to fit a / into DS.* My favorite pairing
- after Harry/Draco (which I really can't make work) is Remus/Sirius,
- and Sirius needs to marry Narcissa so H&D can stay related, and
- anyway, Remus has been turned, possibly permanently, into a big wolf.
- That leaves Ron, I guess, available for.....um.....well, we'll see.
- grins* The Ron/Draco knife-throwing scene I believe started out as a
- response to the Teenage Witches who asked for a scene with Ron and
- Draco where Draco starts taking off his clothes. They tend to ask for
- peculiar things, but then they are peculiar people. ;)[7]
