See Preserving history/info for info on why articles are protected. |
Articles that have been protected for editing because they are considered historical fandom documents should have this text box placed at the top. A sysop needs to protect a page if this article box is on an article to prevent further editing. What articles should be locked with this box present on them?
- Mass e-mails from websites to inform users of new features, policy changes, event announcements, etc. The announcement is probably not found on the website itself and might need to be cited by people writing the history of an article. Example: FanLib/Public beta letter
- Personal e-mails sent by person who is protecting an article. This way their e-mail is available publicly for future reference. Such articles should include all available header codes.
- Content where there is a fear that it might be subject to a ToS violation elsewhere that has historical relevance and needs to be shared in order to give a more accurate idea of what is going on in fandom.
- Message board posts, journal entries where content has been repeatedly changed so that people can cite original versions of the text and understand how and why the text was changed.
The naming convention for these pages is as follows: Page protect article is about/Specific document information. Example: FanLib/Public beta letter is an article related to FanLib. The specific document is their public beta letter.
