TEUNC (short for Tolkien Eccentric Unusual Nut-Cases) is a fan group with a love for chocolate, word- and swordplay, and a common interest in J.R.R. Tolkien and other fantasy.

TEUNC sprang out of the newsgroup alt.fan.tolkien, where a bunch of oddballs began roleplaying and posting other off-topic messages in the autumn of 1998. More serious regulars of the newsgroup objected, and a mailing list was formed. In October 2004, it split into two communities, both called TEUNC. There is still some overlapping between them.
- On November 20, 1998, the teunc mailing list was created on eGroups (now Yahoogroups) [1]
- On December 15, 2003, the Lord of the Rings LiveJournal community teunc was created. [2]
