From 1984 to 1992, The Bill was in its first run on television in Australia. The community benefited from the introduction of computers, with their word processing programs. They allowed for the fandom to produce higher quality fanzines.

  • "Following the pilot on 16 August 1983 the first episode of The Bill was transmitted on the 16th October 1984." [1]

  • "The Bill went on to be three half hour episodes per week between 1988 and 1998 due to a drop in ratings before going to two hour long episodes per week." [3]
  • On October 27, 1988, The Bill premiered on television in Sweden. [4]

Among the fanzines produced was Sierra Oscar, released in 1990. It was 18 pages long and contained a piece of fan fiction in letter form. [55] Serious Police Work Newsletter, another fanzine containing fan fiction, was first published in 1992. It had information about characters and a chance to network with fans. Over 1,200 copies of the first issue were distributed. [56]
