[edit] Introduction

Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (OoT) was the first 3-d Zelda game. It was released on the Nintendo 64 in November of 1998. It was heralded as one of the best games of the year.[1] At the time, the game was visually stunning, and fans, who had only seen Zelda games in two dimensions, were able to experience the series in a completely new way. It's sequel The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask was released two years after OoT.

[edit] Kerfluffles

Around 1999 or so, Zelda fans were scammed by a player who convinced a good part of the fandom that she had discovered a hidden temple and the Triforce within it. According to her report, a song was needed to transport Link to a temple in the sky; there the Triforce was hidden. The now defunct web site HtLoZ.com hosted her screenshots.
