The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (WW) was released in 2002 in Japan and in the following year (2003) in America for the Gamecube system. Unlike its 3-D predecessors, WW featured cartoonish, cell-shaded graphics. It also featured a world that was almost completely covered by water. These two aspects alienated some fans, and many battles ensued about the quality of the game.
