- TPTB, n. Acronym for The Powers That Be. The writers/directors of the original show. Often regarded much in the way that X-Files agents regard Deep Throat and Mr. X, or, if a more classical analogy is preferred, in the way Doctor Faust must have regarded Mephistopheles.[2]
The following definition dates to October 2003 and was written by Chantal Gouveia:
- TPTB: The Powers That Be. People who actually run tv shows/make moves/write books/make money/have lives. [3]
The following definition is from the Star Trek fandom. It dates from August 2004:
- TPTB = "The Powers That Be" - the people/companies that control the canon material (and who will most likely sue your socks off if you infringe their copyright). [4]
