August/Unwinding is a fan fiction writer who was part of the X-Files fandoms "Yes Virginia" group. This group developed a tradition known as machete beta reading. When Unwinding moved from the X-Files fandom to the Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Angel fandoms, she took this tradition with her.
