I've been in fandom a bit too long. Below is a partial timeline of my involvement.
- In 1992, I got on-line at the age of 12 on Prodigy. I hung out on message boards.
- In 1992, I wrote my first fan fiction. It was Star Wars. I wrote it because I thought I was a better writer than George Lucas. The story involved ewoks.
- On January 6, 1996, I created the mailing list b5teens because I was denied access to adult material thanks to the CDA.
- In 1997/1998, I had a run in with the people running the mailing list unrestb5. Some one was forwarding me their digests, which as a minor, I should not have been privy to because they contained adult content and my getting them put them at legal risk.
- In 1997, I was reading a lot of X-Files smut of a Mulder/Scully variety. I was mostly lurking in the community.
- In the summer of 1997, I attended the Chicago Comicon. One of the guests was Pat Tallman, who knew about the mailing list I ran. It was a super cool moment in my fandom history.
- In 1998, I became a Paris/Torres shipper.
- In 1999, I was briefly in the Early Edition fandom.
