[edit] Deletion requests

Help:Article deletion includes directions for how to handle deletion requests. They can no longer be submitted to me as I am no longer involved in that process. There are directions out there which say to e-mail me but they are dated. Please ask whoever posted the directions which suggest you e-mail me to post a link to Help:Article deletion so that people can know how to submit one properly with the best chance of it being deleted. --Laura 11:54, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Aeiouna said ...

Not a deletion request, but is there anyway for this page: http://fanhistory.com/wiki/Linear_Flower be redirected to or merged with my User page?

--Aeiouna 02:59, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes. Just go to the article, edit the content into your user page and then set the main article text to #redirect [[Aeiouna]]. That should set the redirect. If you want that locked after that, you'll need to contact another admin to handle it. --Laura 03:12, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll let Tikatu know to lock it, but I don't think anyone would edit it since it was grabbed by the FF.net bot.

Hey,

Quick question for you. Do I have to have a source for every point on a timeline?

Thanks!

--Rae 20:20, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

No, but more sources is helpful. If it is information that you have because you're the source, it might be worth putting say (Rae) after some information so people know where it comes from. Sources are generally desired as often as possible so people can verify information. --Laura 21:54, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much! Just needed to know before I did something that would earn me a slap on the wrist! And, fingers crossed, timeline's nearly done. Rae 16:46, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Warriors Fan History

The Warriors Fan Fiction Wiki has voted in favor of helping with Warriors and Caategory:Warriors fans. What kind of help do you want? Swifty

[edit] "Comunity"

Hi, sorry, fixed. I hope you have used a bot to delete these pages.--79.46.16.205 18:55, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Here the code:

import wikipedia, catlib, pagegenerators

reason = "Error in page creation"

cat = catlib.Category(wikipedia.getSite(), 'Category:Fan fiction community size')
gen = pagegenerators.CategorizedPageGenerator(cat)

for page in gen:
  if 'comunity' in  page.title():
      page.delete(reason, True, False)
      page = wikipedia.Page(page.title() + "/table")
      page.delete(reason, True, False)

Too late? --79.46.16.205 19:09, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Open ID

Someone reported that Open ID wasn't working. They kept getting this error: "Verification of the OpenID URL failed. Error message: "Invalid trust_root/return_to values(s)"" Thought you should get a heads up. --Tikatu 13:39, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] SpongeBob SquarePants

The livejournal bot is using "SpongeBob fans" as a category. Would it be easier to meld these with the ff.net list (if there is one), and fix all the categories in all the People articles to say "SpongeBob SquarePants"? I'd do this, but I have no idea how. --Tikatu 21:34, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Whoops! That can be fixed so that they all say the same thing. If you spot any more of those problems, let me know. I'll send category fixing bot through to fix that in about 5 minutes. --Laura 03:10, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edit Count;

Hi Laura;

I got the script up and working. Idiotic mistake. I saved the file as a PHP file not a Perl >_>. <_<.

Welcome. :) Anything you want to "fix"/improve would be appreciated. :) --Laura 19:17, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Ghost Busters vs. Ghostbusters

It seems that the fandom uses the second spelling while we have the first throughout the site. Can we run the category fixing bot to change it? Should I go bug Emufarmers about it? --Tikatu 17:54, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

If you can bug me on Friday about it, I'll send the bot on through to fix it. I just don't have the time to basically leave my laptop out for a while and do that. :/ --Laura 18:29, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Advertisement on Wikia

I hope you don't mind, but I would like to ask that you stop asking all over Wikia for links to here to be put up. GB57 01:19, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Russet Noon

Just a heads up on the admins-only article lock that we discussed. --Tikatu 03:28, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Batch Patrol

Having some trouble with Batch Patrol. When I click on a user name that is eligible for it, I get the top buttons and headers, but no edits. Just this code: <bunchpatrol_nounpatrollededits>. It seems to be happening if there is a page or less worth of edits. I'll pass this on to User:Emufarmers, too, but thought you should know. --Tikatu 17:46, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] A spelling quibble

We have one or two editors who are changing words which would be spelled correctly in American to British spelling (along with catching outright misspellings, for which I am grateful). Do we have a policy on this? Do we want one? I know WP has a tendency to say, "Spelling goes with the country of origin": for example, the Thunderbirds article there has UK spelling throughout and when someone went in and edited to change to US spelling, it was quickly rolled back with the explanation of "UK programme, UK spelling"(paraphrased). So, do we want to set a policy for this, or just let it slide? --Tikatu 19:40, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Just my 2 cents: spelling variances US vs. US aren't too big of a deal to me, and I am notoriously a bad speller in general so anyone who fixes my screw-ups I'm appreciative of. So as long as it's internal (and not page names) being changed/corrected, I'm cool with whatever.--Sidewinder 23:05, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Kind of ditto this. I would comment on the talk page regarding specific instances. --Laura 15:25, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Laura, I don't know if this is where to answer your comments on my talk page but will give a shot. I don't write fan fiction. I am only a very avid reader and collector. And I don't have a presence on the web such as an account with LiveJournal. As you may have noticed I have a touch of OCD I would probably spend all of my evenings in front of a computer! And as I spend my days like that I wish preserve my eyesight for a few more years. Anyway, appreciate the kudos. This wiki is a great idea and I am glad to contribute. I still have several more fandoms to contribute!! Jessency

I had an email from an artist; Suzan Lovett, about removing her cover art from the fanzine pages I created. So sent her the policy and the URL's for the images. But she does not wish to do this as she did not put them up in the first place. Suggestions as to next step? Janet

--Jessency 21:14, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Janet, in Susan's case, we're going to make an exception in policy, and delete the cover art in question without her contacting us directly. Please email me at our delete address with links to the artwork so I can do this as soon as possible. Thanks. --Tikatu 21:51, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Notable fanzine covers

I've noticed that Susan Lovett has won several awards for her art. Does this make the cover art notable and if so, how do we handle that? Do we honor deletion requests regardless of notability? Looking for a bit of discussion on this before I finish deleting the rest of the artwork. --Tikatu 15:40, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Stories vs. fan-fiction categories?

I'm a bit confused by this categorization scheme, especially as, in the example case of A-Team, what is being listed under Category:A-Team stories looks like it should be under Category:A-Team fan fiction. Help?--Sidewinder 15:33, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Er. (This whole thing currently is a great big damned mess because the source wiki code for the stories pages is NOT what I wanted.) Stories is for individual stories. Fan fiction is a broader category for organizing around fan fiction archives, fan fiction awards, individual stories, fan fiction authors, etc. If that makes sense? --Laura 15:36, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] FanFox

Here's what I got so far: link.

Open the sidebar with 'View -> Sidebar -> FanFox Sidebar'.

See how it works. Is everything working according to plan? I am thinking of adding some functions to:

  • Edit the sections in another dialog window.
  • Fully functioning toolbar. Just like for wikiHow.
  • Sidebars for other tools.
  • Making a button on the toolbar, allowing me to removing the sidebar from 'View -> Sidebar'.
  • Continuing on the tree view. Removing the links when it's posted. Even allowing you to switch positions. Hiding links.
