Velocityofsound can be a polarizing figure in fandom because she is unwilling to put up with many of the behind the scenes games others choose to play. She doesn't like people who troll her Livejournal communities or people who seem to be unable to leave trolls alone (such as those involved in Spoilergate).

Velocityofsound sometimes creates private chatrooms to avoid issues trolls bring when they enter and refuse to leave bestkeptprivate chat. This is usually a last resort as bestkeptprivate chats are normally open and friendly to all chatters involved.

Behind the scenes yet public discussion that make her a bit unusual include some friends calling her a BNF, acknowledging that she maintains behind the scenes aspects of geekfiction(such as tagging) and her distaste for sock puppets used by BNFs to leave pseudo-anonymous or overly-critical reviews.
