[edit] The Band

Wedlock was formed in 2004,Richmond,VA, by Paul Allgood and Jeff Hathaway. In 2006 after they released the Matrimony Ep on Kounterfeit Records, Allgood relocated to North Carolina while Hathaway remained in Richmond to form The Beatguild as a production company. Anode Glow keyboardist Jonathan Kidder, Crushed By The Numbers bassist Kirk Bryson, and Guatemalan drummer David Mendez comprised Wedlock's live line up. Mendez departed and Greg Klaiber of Armored Uprising and Greg's Grab-ass Revue filled in before Ana Mitchell took over on electronic drums. After their debut "Exogamy," was released in 2008, Wedlock disbanded and reformed this time with Allgood, keyboardist Baxter Smith, and bassist Lee Whitsel. Before their latest release, "Continuity," in 2009, multi-instrumentalist Jason Bowden was briefly a member and contributed remixes for two of their singles, "Still Unsatisfied," and "Reverend Charisma. Paul Allgood is also the author of the novel "An Inextricable Tale."

[edit] Kerfluffles

  • There was an incident at The 2008 Carrborro Music Festival where two Wedlock fans became irate with each other over who was going to help Allgood with his wardrobe before the show, and it spilled over into a minor "war of words" between the two of them that still occasionally gets re-ignited to this day.
  • A drunken fan continually interrupted Wedlock during a performance at The Cave in Chapel Hill back in January of 2008.
