On September 17, 1996, Whoosh, a Xena: Warrior Princess webzine, went live on the web. It helped to organize and foster meta oriented fan fiction discussion. In 1997, the term Uber was invented by by Kym Taborn of Whoosh.org. She noted on Whoosh that the sudden emergence of Ubers started in 1997, after the Xena episode "The Xena Scrolls" aired.
