Generally accepted as 'maintext' by the end of the series episodes, the Xena/Gabrielle pairing, aka 'X/G', was viewed as 'subtext' by many viewers from early episodes and fanfiction began to appear on the internet. Among the 'bards' of the Xenaverse was Melissa 'Missy' Good, aka Merwolf Merwolf's Cave, who later scripted two episodes for the series itself, 'Coming Home' and 'Legacy'. Other bards were B.L. Miller, Bat Morda, and Della Street.
