Yagami Taichi, or Tai Kamiya in the English dub, is the original leader of the Chosen Children in the Digimon anime. His younger sister, Yagami Hikari, is also a main character in the show.

Taichi is often slashed with Ishida Yamato; this relationship is called Taito or Yamachi. This pairing and the het ship Taiora were popular, and many fans were surprised, and outraged that the series eventually turned toward Sorato out of the blue. One episode they just decided to completely disregard the whole series and throw everyone for a curveball.
