[edit] Introduction

Screen shot of the ZeldaBlog.
The ZeldaBlog was created by The Missing Link, who also the founded the Zelda: The Grand Adventures web site (now closed). According to the first post, the purpose of the ZeldaBlog was to unite the fandom:
ZeldaBlog is a community site designed not only to bring news, opinions, and discussions to the fans of the community but also to help promote unity within the Zelda community, a unity that has recently been lacking amongst sites.[1]

The blog featured articles by some of the prominent members of the Zelda fandom. It also featured links to many Zelda sites, including ship and character shrines, fanlistings, forums, and other blogs. People could create accounts in order to post comments, although anonymous commenting was allowed. Posts ranged from thoughts about the series, speculation about upcoming games, the Golden Item Awards, and opinions about the fandom.

[edit] Contributers

The Missing Link was one of the main contributers to the blog, and had a regular column titled Whose Blog Is It Anyway?[2] Other contributers included Juliet Singleton, webmaster of The North Castle, Archaic Sage, webmaster of Rauru's Return, Darth Citrus, webmaster of Exploding Deku Nut, and Goddess Rinoa, webmaster of Zelda Infinite. There were many other writers; the full list can be found at ZeldaBlog >> Contributers.

[edit] Timeline

[edit] 2005

[edit] 2007

  • On May 19, 2007, The Missing Link closed the ZeldaBlog for personal reasons:
Given this harsh and cutting facts, I was forced to make a hard choice: ZeldaBlog or my sanity. In similar situations where another object took the place of ZeldaBlog against sanity, I’ve chosen against my sanity several times before, and I have vowed to myself that I would not make the same mistake the next time around. Moreover, as I’ve looked back at the last six years of running websites and moderating forums, as I mentioned earlier, I’ve had a general track record of success in that. I’ve done some rather amazing things with ZeldaBlog and TGA, and that sense of accomplishment—diminished as it may be—still warms my heart. I figured that I could easily “retire” and be completely happy with myself because of I have achieved something during that time. Therefore, the dilemma was really no dilemma; the choice was quite clear.[4].
